There is always moisture in the air even if you cannot see it
When the air gets colder, water in the air turns to liquid from gas and tiny drops of water appear, this is condensation.
Condensation mainly occurs during cold weather and it tends to appear on cold surfaces and places where there is little air movement, near windows or behind cupboards and wardrobes.
Our commitment to you
We have an annual property inspection programme. Colleagues making any visits to properties will be alert to the presence of damp and mould and ensure that this is reported.
Why is condensation a problem?
Every home gets condensation at some time, for example when you have a bath or shower or when you are cooking. The problem is lots of
condensation can lead to damp and mould.
What is mould?
- Mould can grow on any surface, so if you spot any mould, it is important to take early action as it can spread quickly.
- You might get mould on your windows, ceilings or walls, particularly behind furniture. This can damage your home and may even affect your health if nothing is done to remove it.
Preventing damp, mould, and condensation
Reduce moisture in the air
- Use lids on saucepans while cooking.
- Dry clothes outside if possible.
- Add cold water to the bath before hot water.
- Limit shower time.
- Wipe away daily condensation.
- Use mould cleaning spray on affected surfaces.
Proper heating
- Keep your home warm; contact Transform staff if concerned about costs.
